StoryCurious: Work That Story!

THIS IS A SERIES OF WORKSHOP EVENTS, READ BELOW TO LEARN ABOUT EACH ONE - ATTEND ONE OR ALL 4! ALL ARE FREE!!

In anticipation of The Moth’s Pop-Up Porch and Story Slam in Tulsa this September, and all the upcoming monthly Ok So Tulsa Story Slams, the Center for Creativity and OK, So…Tulsa have partnered to help Tulsans develop their personal stories and hone their storytelling skills. Whether you’re an experienced storyteller or a complete novice, this workshop series will help you develop story ideas, workshop existing stories, and introduce you to Tulsa’s storytelling community. Attend one session or all of them – all events are free and public, with free parking in any TCC lot. Come to any or all workshops!

Work That Story

Thursday, August 4

5:30 - 7:30 pm

Center for Creativity, 910 S. Boston Avenue

Workshop your story in a safe and supportive environment. Winners of the Ok, So Tulsa’s annual “Best Storyteller Competition” will help you develop your story by providing feedback and storytelling tips. Please come ready to tell your true, personal story that’s no longer than 5 minutes. Rough drafts are encouraged – there’s no such thing as a perfect story!

Are you curious about a Story Slam and interested in meeting others new to Tulsa’s storytelling community? Join us for a casual meetup prior to the Ok, So August Story Slam at Living Arts. The Slam starts at 8, and you can sit back and enjoy the show, or throw your name in the hat for a chance to tell your story.

Everyone has a Story - Session I 

Wednesday, August 17
5:30 - 7:30 pm
Center for Creativity, 910 S. Boston Avenue

Learn the basics of what makes a great story and begin to develop your story idea. We’ll hear an example story from one of Tulsa’s best storytellers, learn storytelling tips, and participate in fun exercises that help prompt story ideas

Everyone has a Story - Session II
Saturday, August 20
1 - 3 pm
Center for Creativity, 910 S. Boston Avenue

We’ll begin with engaging exercises that will prepare us to share a rough draft of our story with the group. We’ll give and receive feedback on our stories in a safe and supportive environment.
